I liked it well enough. The special effects were fine (and that’s the reason you’re buying it, here), but the main guy playing Dick Best (1 of only 2 guys to successfully strike 2 different carriers on the same day) was kind of stereotypical, and I didn’t think his acting was that great. They should have also created more of a sense of confusion amongst the Japanese. At least they threw in something about them having to reset their weapons on their planes, which cost em time, and loaded their below-decks with ordinance, but I was under the impression they had to do that multiple times. Also, the Japanese guy historically stuck by the Japanese “playbook” and was unable to respond to unexpected situations or think outside the box, which was a main, yet underrepresented factor in their downfall that day.It does touch on other events such as Pearl and the Tokyo bombing…so it’s not all just Midway…Overall, can you sit back with it on a rainy day, make some extra butter microwave popcorn, grab some Mountain Dew, and enjoy yourself. Yes.

Go to Audible and buy Shattered Sword if you want the truth about the Battle of Midway ...I think the ancient Henry Fonda (Nimitz) movie is more historically accurate even in light of the new revelations in Shattered Sword...

Midway is an entertaining historical rendition of the battle of the Midway island campaign.Imperial US and Imperial Japan forces during the Pacific theater of war. After Japan determined the Western powers did not respect Japan for its racial attributes, cultural heritage, and long history as a regional power of Eastern Asia. Japan made war against all western imperial nations for subjugation Japan and Eastern Asia to be slaves to the west.This movie gives a broad range of liberties on the need for war, and it's horror, be it created or by surprise.The movie starts with high respect among the nations of Japan and US held territory around the pacific. Acquired immense resources of free labor, plantations for rubber, coffee, tea, spices, oils, and minerals, and fisheries from East Asia and the Pacific islands.Midway shows a stylized version of the events that occurred in visual effects from Pearl Harbor Massacre to other lopsided hikes by the US to respond to the obliteration of the pacific fleet knowing of Japan wanted to invade Pearl Harbor they could have. But due to our intelligence in code-breaking and a few brilliant people, The US would have had to seek peace if they lost Midway. Knowing this, the odds worked out for the US after hundreds we're sacrificed against the veteran Japan navy task force.It is recommended for a person curious about WW2 and some informative, emotional heroics on both sides of the war.
